uLead2023 - The Summit of Educational Leadership has ended
Welcome to uLead 2023.  We are thrilled you will be joining us at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel for our annual school leadership conference hosted by the Council for School Leadership of The Alberta Teachers’ Association.

If you have any questions during the event, we will have uLead team members at the registration table throughout the entire three days of the conference. This table can be found just outside of the Van Horne Ballroom where all of our keynote presentations are taking place.

For best use of this virtual scheduler and the most up to date information, we would recommend that you view it through a web browser rather than the Sched App.

In order for our team to best determine room allocations for breakout sessions would ask that delegates log in (top right corner of this page) and select sessions that they are interested in attending.

The Magic of the Triple Play: How Teaching Reading is Like Coaching Players For That Perfect Play

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Executing the perfect triple play in baseball requires an excellent set of core skills, but also an intuitive sense of the game, knowing what to do, when to do it, and why. Reading, like baseball, is complex. Join us in this session as we delve into what the research says about developing the five pillars of reading. Then, get your game on and participate in hands-on activities that, through artful teaching, put reading skills back into meaningful contexts in powerful ways. As leaders in education, you will come away from this presentation with a sense of how we need to teach reading, what we need to teach, and why. Step up to the plate, and let’s play ball!
